Author Guidelines

Inquiry is a semi-annual publication affiliated to Faculty of Business and Administration at the International University of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The journal aims to promote interdisciplinary studies across all areas of social and behavioral sciences, in particular Economics, Business, Administration, International Relations and Political Science.

Inquiry - Sarajevo Journal of Social Sciences applies double-blind peer-review by two reviewers. Reviewer selection for each submitted article, following the initial review and approval by the editors, is done by the editor-in-chief and reviewers are selected based on their research area, previous experience, competence.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

• Articles must be in English and should not exceed 10000 words including footnotes.
• Articles must display original thought and ideas. They must make concrete references to existing scholarship in the related area.
• Citations and references should be made in accordance with the APA Style Manual and Guide to Scholarly Publishing.
• Articles may feature illustrations and graphics. It is the responsibility of the author of the article to obtain the necessary permissions for the illustrations and/or graphics that they use.
• Articles must be submitted via online submission form.
• Articles will undergo rigorous originality and plagiarism detection procedure.

The process of publishing within the Inquiry can be divided into four main steps:
1. Submission: All papers have to be submitted in doc. file or PDF file through the online submission form available at: (

Review: After the submission, papers undergo the review in terms of layout (formatting), content (this part has two phases: 1) check the relevance of the work, correspondence to scientific criteria and plagiarism check; 2) Double review by the experts in the particular field) and proofreading (in order to check do author needs further proofreading).
After the review, author may receive one of the following three answers:
Accepted: Paper is accepted for publishing.
Additional modifications needed: Author is asked to make the corrections suggested by the reviewers after which paper goes through the same procedure before the final decision is made.
Rejected: Does not meet the minimum criteria for publishing.

3. Copyright signature: If the paper is accepted, author receives the copyright form that has to be filled, signed and sent back to Inquiry staff.

4. Publishing: Final phase is the publishing of particular volume with all works that have been accepted.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Authors who publish with Inquiry – across all social and behavioral sciences agree to the following terms:

1. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.
